One Stage
Every troupe performs on the same stage, in front of the same audience, whatever its country or language.
FITUT is imagined, organised and run entirely by students. Every edition, a new generation takes over the festival and hands Tangier a stage the whole world can step onto.
Our story
It started with a simple idea: that a university could be a crossroads, and that theatre could be the common language.
Nineteen editions later, FITUT has welcomed student troupes from across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. They arrive as strangers, perform in their own languages, and leave as a single company.
Behind every curtain call is a team of students who spent months booking venues, hosting delegations, designing posters and building sets, learning to run a festival by running one.

What we believe
Every troupe performs on the same stage, in front of the same audience, whatever its country or language.
From the programme to the poster, every decision is made by students learning by doing.
Culture should never be a luxury. Every show of the festival is free and open to the public.
A city at the meeting point of two seas and two continents, the most natural home for a festival of encounters.
Organised by
FITUT is organised by the Association de l'Action Universitaire, a student association that has carried the festival edition after edition, and that trains every new team to take over from the last.
